Following the usual four and a half years of training as undergraduate at Bristol University Dental School Simon graduated in 1993. He then went onto undertake further post-graduate training over the subsequent four years encompassing recognised training posts in general professional training in Southport and Liverpool Dental Hospital.
Further training in Oral Surgery was gained through posts within the specialty of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, notably at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Russells Hall Hospital and Wolverhampton New Cross Hospital. Simon obtained his Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of surgeons of Edinburgh in 1998.
He has been continuously registered on the UK General Dental Council specialist list for Oral Surgery since 2002.
Simon says his work is overwhelmingly chair-side clinical activity. Alongside working within the Ascent team Simon also has current appointments with the Birmingham Dental Hospital and the University of Birmingham Dental School. He is regularly involved in the clinical supervision of both undergraduate dental students and postgraduate dentists in training.
Simon is a member of the core examiners for the Licence in Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
His routine practice at Ascent Dental Care includes a wide spectrum of Oral surgery undertaken with Local Anaesthetic and Intravenous Sedation.
Simon also has a special interest in the management of Temporo-mandibular dysfunction, working alongside colleagues in Maxillo-facial surgery often employing Botulinum toxin.
Simon accepts referrals from other local Dentists for both oral surgery.
